🌿 Feeling the Edge: A Reflection on Contact Boundaries
In Gestalt therapy, a contact boundary is the space where “you” end and “I” begin — the meeting point between two people, or between us and the world around us. It’s not a wall or a barrier. It’s more like a skin — something that allows connection and protects what’s within.
🤝 Real Connection Feels Safe
We all have moments when our contact boundary feels clear.
Think about a time when someone truly met you — not just with their words, but with their presence. You felt seen, not smothered. That’s healthy contact.
But we also know what it’s like when boundaries blur. Maybe you learned to shrink yourself to keep the peace. Maybe your needs were ignored, or your “no” wasn’t heard. Over time, that can make it hard to know where you stop and someone else begins.

We might explore questions like:
Where do you lose yourself in relationship?
When do you pull away to protect yourself?

The contact boundary is sacred.
