Reasonable Vs Unreasonable?

7 July 2025

How do you feel?

How do you know if you’re being reasonable or not?

This question usually comes from somewhere deep.

Not the head—but the heart.

It often shows up after you’ve been told you’re too much.

Or after years of doubting yourself.

You start wondering…

But what does “reasonable” really mean?

Being reasonable doesn’t mean:

  • Always being calm

  • Never needing anything

  • Keeping the peace no matter what

Sometimes people expect us to be “reasonable” when what they really mean is:

Don’t make me uncomfortable.

So how do you know?

Instead of asking “Am I being reasonable?”, try asking:

  • Am I staying true to what I feel?

  • Am I speaking from a place of care and honesty?

  • Am I listening to myself and others without abandoning what matters to me?

It’s okay to have feelings.

It’s okay to want things.

It’s okay to set boundaries.

You don’t have to explain your way into being valid.

You can be emotional, unsure, even messy—and still be worthy of being heard.

If you’re asking this question a lot…

You might really be wondering:

Is it safe to be myself here?

That’s a question worth exploring.

Gently. With someone who will hold space for your truth.

If this speaks to you, you’re not alone.

Let’s talk.
